Ashok Goel hails from Hisar in Haryana and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Kurukshetra University. He started his career by looking after the family's trading activities and has been involved in setting up various manufacturing businesses including Essel Propack.
Over the last three decades, Mr. Goel has helped expand the company globally at strategic locations, set up Greenfield business, and spearheaded several critical acquisitions and joint ventures. Under his stewardship. Essel Propack has witnessed a solid growth and currently boasts a turnover of USD 368 million. The laminated plastic tubes manufactured by Essel Propack cater to world's leading FMCG and Pharmaceutical companies. The Indian multinational company employs over 2850 people representing 25 different nationalities through its 20 state-of-the-art facilities spread in 11 countries. His focus on innovation and R&D has ensured that Essel Propack ranks amongst the select vertically integrated tube manufacturers in the world with high quality packaging solutions for the FMCG and Pharmaceutical domains. Essel Propack's 400 happy customers across the world are testimony to the excellent products delivered by the company.
A firm believer in technology and tactical business approach, Ashok Goel has an unremitting focus on Essel Propack being an ecologically responsible corporate organization. Extensive R&D has ensured that not only materials used but also the processes followed at the manufacturing units have the least possible environmental impact and carbon footprint. A number of these materials and processes have been patented or are in the process of being patented. He is also the Chairman of Essel World and Water Kingdom, the largest theme park in India. He is the Founding Chairman of ITZ Cash Card Limited, a premier payment solutions Company in India. It is now part of the Ebix Group.
Apart from efficiently managing his own businesses, Mr. Goel has held several leadership positions at various industry associations and has left his mark. To name few of his achievements: President of Organisation of Plastics Processors of India (OPPI) for 2 years, President of Plastic India Foundation (PIF), Founder President of Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI)
Mr. Goel is a self-made man and truly believes in first hand learning backed with the power of “can do” attitude. He is personally involved with many charitable and philanthropic causes, which includes; several educational, medical and social institutions.
Dr. Ajit Ranade is Senior President and Chief Economist with the Aditya Birla Group which has operations in more than 36 countries. Birla Group's businesses include metals, mining, chemicals, textiles, cement as well as telecom, retail, insurance and asset management. He is a member of the National Executive Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and a member of the Economic Policy Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He is Chair of the Research Advisory Panel of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. Dr. Ranade is on the boards of several academic institutions. He has served as a member of the Board of Governors of IIT, Bombay. He is an engineer and MBA and received a PhD in Economics from Brown University, USA. He is a frequent contributor to the business press and writes regularly in newspapers on economic, social and political topics. He is a co-founder and Trustee of the Association for Democratic Reforms, an NGO working in area of electoral and political reforms.
Mr. Arun Gupta, has the twin achievements of being a successful entrepreneur, and has also delivered some of the most profitable deals in India's Private Equity and M&A space, with rich experience of investing in and guiding family businesses
He is the co-promoter of Capital Foods, India's fastest growing packaged foods business, owning iconic brands like Ching's Secret and Smith & Jones.
A multifaceted business leader, he has served as Board member/mentor/adviser to various family managed businesses including Biba, House of Anita Dongre (AND), Skechers, Clarks, Turtle men's wear, Blue foods restaurants(Copper Chimney, GelattoItaliano, Coffee bean & tea leaf), Neeru's ethnic wear, Amar Chitra Katha, Famozi shoes, Tresmode shoes, Myglamm cosmetics, Desibelle, Holii handbags, Mother Earth, Giovani, etc.

Dr. Ranjan Banerjee joined as the Dean of SPJIMR Mumbai in June, 2015. He brought with him a rare combination of extensive business, corporate training, academic and consulting experience and insight. In his first year at SPJIMR, one of Dr Banerjee's focus areas has been a holistic Stakeholder Engagement, which is producing many successes.
Dr. Banerjee holds a BTech from IIT Bombay, an MBA from IIM Calcutta and a PhD in Management from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, USA. His research has been presented at the University of Michigan, Harvard Business School, London Business School, University of Texas at Dallas, Indiana University etc. His doctoral thesis won a global award for the best dissertation in b2b Marketing from the Institute for the study of business markets, Penn State University, USA.
Dr Banerjee has worked for leading FMCG companies like Asian Paints, Vadilal and Hindustan Unilever. He was Group COO of Insta Worldwide. Dr. Banerjee has also consulted for leading Indian and multinational companies like BASF, Legrand, Vodafone, AXA, Philips, Madura Garments, etc. His last assignment was as Founder & CEO of Renaissance Strategic Consultants.
Prior to joining SPJIMR, Dr Banerjee has also taught at leading B-schools like the Carlson School, University of Minnesota, SMU Singapore, IIM Calcutta and Great Lakes. He has published articles in Harvard Business Review online (www.hbr.org).
In the last year, he has been invited to lead a workshop for international deans at the GMAC conference in Miami, USA. He has been an invited speaker at the GBSN conference in Manila, and the EFMD conference in Phuket. He was recently one of two invited panelists at a Korn Ferry thought leadership series in Mumbai which was attended by over 80 CEOs (along with Dr Nirmalya Kumar).
He has contributed invited articles on the future of management education for Business World, Business India and Forbes.
Mr. R Gopalakrishnan studied physics at Kolkata University, engineering at IIT Kharagpur and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has been a professional manager from 1967. He has served as Chairman of Unilever Arabia, as MD of Brooke Bond Lipton and Vice Chairman of Hindustan Lever, as ED of Tata Sons and several Tata companies. He also serves as an independent director of listed companies, Akzo Nobel India, Castrol India, and Hemas Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka.
Gopal mentors a few start-ups. He is actively engaged in both instructional and inspirational speaking. He has also authored six books.
Tulsi Jayakumar is a Professor of Economics and the Programme Head of the Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business at the S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research. SPJIMR's FMB program is a pioneer post-graduate management programme for scions of family managed businesses, in its 20th year. An alumnus of the prestigious Delhi School of Economics, Dr. Jayakumar has a rich experience of teaching across various Institutes and business schools across the country in her academic career spanning more than 25 years.
Dr. Jayakumar is a well-reputed scholar in her field. She regularly contributes to business newspapers including the Mint, Financial Express, Hindu Business Line and the Free Press Journal. Her articles have been widely discussed and deliberated upon in the social media as well. Her cases published with global case repositories like Ivey and distributed by Harvard are used across top B-schools in the world, and have been re-published in international text books. Her recent case on a Family Managed Business, Agarwal Packers & Movers won critical acclaim and was featured by the Case Centre. She also has contributed to national and international journals including the Economic & Political Weekly, Journal of Business Strategy, Competitiveness Review and the South Asian Journal of Management. Recently she has co-authored a book on Financial Markets and Institutions, published by Pearson.
